Starting and Shutting Down Your Computer

TECH TIP – 101
Turning your computer on and off is a fundamental practice that can significantly impact its performance and longevity. Let’s delve into the details:
Rebooting Your Computer helps keep it running smoothly. It clears the memory, stopping any tasks that might be consuming RAM. Even if you’ve closed an app, it could still be using memory. A reboot can also fix peripheral and hardware issues.
It is recommended that you shut down your computer at least once a week. This process returns everything to its bootup state, from your computer’s CPU to its memory. Avoid shutting down by holding in the power button, as it may cause additional problems. Instead, follow proper restart procedures. Newer machines need fewer restarts, but a major software patch usually requires one.
