Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign that teaches people how to stop severe bleeding in an emergency before professional help arrives. It empowers bystanders to become trained, equipped, and ready to respond to bleeding emergencies.
Kristi Blankenship, BSN, RN, CEN, Trauma Nurse Coordinator at WakeMed Health and Hospitals and a team of nurses will present this very important topic to Carolina Preserve residents on
Saturday, September 14, 9 a.m. in the Ballrooms. This program is
OPEN TO ALL CAROLINA PRESERVE RESIDENTS.
They will cover the difference between an arterial bleed and a venous bleed and what to do in both cases. You will learn how to apply pressure on a bleed and, in severe cases, how to “plug the hole”. You will also learn how to apply a tourniquet if needed.
This is very much a “hands on” program in Bradford Hall, and you will practice all three techniques on mannequins if you come to the live presentation in the Bradford Hall ballrooms. There will be a limit on the number of people who can register for the live session in Bradford Hall.
If you cannot come to Bradford Hall or if the class is full, you can always attend virtually via Zoom. There is no limit to the number of attendees for the virtual session. The virtual audience will see the presentation of techniques by the nurses and will be able to observe some hands-on practice sessions.
